Innocent Words Premiere’s the New Single From System and Station ‘Sell us the senseless’
“Sell Us the Senseless” is taken from the recently released self-titled album. Below is exclusive editorial about the song written by RFK Heise (vocals/guitar/keys).
Artist: System and Station
Album: Self-titled
Track: Sell Us the Senseless
This song has become one of my favorites if not my favorite on our newest record. All of the other songs on the album were fairly close to the original demos minus some re arrangements but Senseless went through at least three other versions before ending up where it is. We labored over this track and ended up completely changing the face of it, it also was very much a group writing effort. The intro was intended to feel like a desert drive at midnight- calming, alive yet a little eerie. The lyric “you’ll save up luck that they throw away” came from a construction site I was working on in the west hills of Portland. I was working carpentry on a mansion on the hill where they remodeled at least one room every year. I would see all of the virtually new materials being discarded, hundreds of thousands of dollars just being tossed. I imagined it as the luck that got them where they were, being thrown out to the street merely because they had abundance.
